Let’s Eat Cake!

Let’s Eat Cake!

“A party without cake is just a meeting” - Julia Child

Julia Child, a famous chef, author and television personality, was quoted as saying, “A party without cake is just a meeting.”  Her words echo in my ears every time a personalized wedding cake is delivered to avenue for a sophisticated, creative and memorable event coordinated by Lisa Kenward Events.

Planning Your Wedding? Ask Questions

Planning Your Wedding? Ask Questions

On the exterior wall of the elementary school that I attended (many years ago) was an engraved sign that read, 'Knowledge Is Power.'  I remember that message even today as I research the wedding industry trends, hear of successful wedding events coordinated by other peers and focus on my client's sophisticated, creative and memorable weddings.  The recent article written by Danielle Rothweiler, contributing writer at The Huffington Post, was delivered to me via email this morning.  Her article, 'What To (Really) Ask Your Potential Wedding Planner,' reminded me of the sign that I saw every weekday for 5 years.

Wedding Planning Stressful?

Wedding Planning Stressful?

The USA Today newspaper dated Tuesday, March 8, 2016, Section B, noted the top five most stressful jobs.  I wasn't surprised to see that an Event Coordinator was ranked number five on the list.  Placing confidence and trust into the hands of a professional to create an atmosphere or look that reflects your personality or business culture will create many sleepless nights for the Event Coordinator.

Bustle Fiasco – do you need the drama?

Bustle Fiasco – do you need the drama?

Your wedding dress is perfect.  It reflects your style and personality and may have personal touches added to make the dress unique to you (embroider your initials onto a piece of linen and have your seamstress/alterations person sew the fabric into your wedding dress.)

Tipping Point – Q & A

Tipping Point – Q & A

During a recent conversation with a client, the topic of tipping was discussed. As simple as offering additional compensation to the person who providing a service to you can be a complex decision with many variable to consider.  Our conversation focused on the venue policy for tipping, the tip amount that was factored into the cost of the menu, who should receive a tip other than waitstaff and the amount of the tip for exceptional service.

Decision Making is Part of the Planning Process…Are you ready?

July is here. Where did June go? As I look forward on my calendar to prepare for the upcoming events in September, October, November and December, time is ticking by. Are my clients ready? Have they made all the decisions needed to ensure their wedding day will be as they wanted? Did they procrastinate or leave the decision in my hands?

Compatible Service Vendors – Select the Right One

Compatible Service Vendors – Select the Right One

When deciding which company will provide a specific service for your wedding day, consider those businesses listed on your Wedding Planner’s Preferred Vendors List. Making your selection from that list will help you narrow the selection down to a few local professionals that your Wedding Planner has worked with in the past. Pick a business owner with references and interview that company yourself to ensure compatibility and quality. Sounds like an easy assumption, right? Wrong!

Some brides have been envisioning that first dance since they were little girls and have picked their perfect song long ago. Others search the music for the song that best reflects their relationship with their spouse. Bridesmaids Attire...What’s in!

Bridesmaids Attire...What’s in!

Traditionally, bridesmaids wore the exact same dress, shoes, and accessories. For many modern brides this is a little too cookie cutter for their wedding style and partially, I think, they don’t want to lose any of their girlfriends over a bad bridesmaids dress. Brides are now being more open to variety, not only with the dress style but also with different shades or even with different color choices all together!
